Words that light up as they are read

Each word glows the moment the narrator says it, so a child can follow the line with their eyes instead of guessing where the voice has got to.

This is the whole idea behind TuneTales. Children who are still learning to decode words can lean on the voice, while the highlighting quietly shows them what the words look like. Over time the eyes start arriving at a word before the voice does — which is exactly the moment reading begins to click.

Four narrators, so the voice suits the night

Pip is playful and bright, Willow is gentle and calm, Sunny is warm and cosy, and Grandpa Oak is slow and soothing. Every story is read by whichever one your child picks.

Pip reads for everyone, free plan included. Willow, Sunny and Grandpa Oak come with Premium. The choice is remembered per child profile, so if your child has decided that only one voice will do, that voice is waiting next time.

Downloads for aeroplanes and back seats

Save stories to the device and they play with no signal at all — on a plane, in a tunnel, or in a cottage with one bar.

Downloaded stories keep their word highlighting, since the timing data travels with the audio. Downloads live under Profile → Downloads, where you can remove them to free up space.

Sleep mode that actually stops

The screen dims, the story finishes, and playback ends. Nothing autoplays into a second story at eleven at night.

There is no infinite queue and no recommendation feed. When the story is over, the app is done — because the point of a bedtime story is that bedtime follows it.

A parental gate on anything that matters

Settings, purchases and account changes sit behind a PIN or Face ID, so a four-year-old exploring the app cannot get anywhere they should not.

Set it up under Profile → Parental Controls. Once it is on, the subscription screen and the settings screen both ask before opening.

No ads, no tracking, nothing to sell

There is no advertising in TuneTales and no analytics SDK watching your child. Their profile — name, age, avatar, interests — never leaves the device.

We have no advertising identifiers, no third-party analytics, no location data and no social features. The only things stored on our servers are the parent account and the family library: favourites, progress and purchases.
